Writing Paragraphs
Before you can run, you must learn how to walk. Both of these actions are abilities most people take for granted. However, just as the complexities of coordinating movements to perform both of these activities is often overlooked by many, so are the requirements of writing strong, clear and effective paragraphs.
In this course, one of the major components is learning to write an essay. However, the first step is to learn to write a paragraph. In most ways, a paragraph follows the same format and structure as an essay, but is a far more simplistic way to examine and practice the skills necessary for successfully constructing a longer, more in-depth piece of writing.

To begin, there are two types of paragraphs you must learn in order to build an essay: "The Five-Sentence Paragraph" and the "Point • Proof • Explanation • Conclusion Paragraph." Calvin and Hobbes Paragraph Assignment
In order to practice your paragraph writing, take a look at the Calvin and Hobbes comic presented to you in class, and consider how you feel about school. Then, complete the assignment by writing two paragraphs, the first expressing why you feel this way, and the second explaining what you do to shake off the effects of a tough day at school.
